The surf season here in Southern Nicaragua usually is from May - October. However I've seen the season kick off early in April. This year looks to be that way! Just take a look at the live surf cam and see for yourself. Although the Outer Reef doesn't seem to be consistent nor big enough to ride, Popoyo is bringing in double overhead surf. Handsome Keith just came in from a really long surf session and said that there are plenty of tubes to be had. The high tide today isn't really that high and the low isn't that low. Pretty much a medium tide all day. All this is making for a great day of surf.

We'll be posting fresh surf photos tonight of today's action.
Meanwhile check our surf cam if you're not already here!

Hey,
I'm planning on a surf trip to Nicaragua between the 26th of March and the 9th of April.
I got a bit worried when I saw you posted the first swell of the season on the 9th of April 2010.
Can you tell me more what size of swell was this one and if before the 9th of April there were any waves and what size were them?
Thanks for your help

They juicy swells usually don't start to appear until the beginning of the rainy season. (May-Oct.) However every once in awhile a swell could come in early and make the month of April spectacular.
Other than that, during the off season or dry season (Nov.-Apr.) we still get waves, it just usually not the juice. More like summer waves chest to head high.
